Many today think that the Law, or commandments, of our Creator were all done away with ages ago, and no longer need to be obeyed today.
If the author of the scriptural book of Nehemiah were alive today, he would roundly condemn such sinful thinking for the criminal act it actually is.
Just as he beat and pulled out the hair of men who married foreign women, and rebuked those who desecrated the Sabbaths, by working on those days, Nehemiah would have more than just a few choice words for those today who do violence to the Creator's Law, in the name of their false concept of "salvation" by "faith" alone.
Not faith in the Creator or Savior, but in an entirely false pseudo-savior, and a false name, which does not and can never save anyone!
The Law Is Still In Force Today!
Here is what Nehemiah wrote, concerning the Laws given on Sinai through Moses:
"You came down on Mount Sinai; you spoke to them from heaven. You gave them Regulations and Laws that are just, and right, and Decrees and Commands that are good" (Nehemiah 9:13).
So if a Christian argues that the Laws and/or Commandments have been done away, they are also asking you to believe that what is JUST, RIGHT, and GOOD has also been done away with or abolished.
So what does that leave?
You can perhaps begin to see how utterly mistaken, wrong and sinful are those who will tell and assure you that the Savior supposedly came to do away with the Law, and to obey it so you don't need to.
For one thing, they talk a lot about sin, and how you need to repent, yet they hypocritically tell you with a straight face that the Law is no longer in force; the very same Law that defines what sin is, without which there is no sin (I "John" 3:4).
They also talk about being "saved" in the present tense, as if they already are, yet when Paul wrote to the Romans about salvation, it was always in the future tense:
"Since we have been justified by His blood, how much more we shall be saved from the Almighty One's wrath through Him!" (Romans 5:9).
"...we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!" (Hebrews 5:10).
Past, Present And Future Tense
Paul well knew, and taught -- unlike foolish modern Christians -- that just as death is a future reality for those who sin, so also is salvation a future reality for all those who overcome sin through righteousness (which by definition means: obedience to the Creator's Laws, Statutes, Judgments, etc.):
"Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey -- whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to salvation?" (Hebrews 6:16).
Sin is disobedience to the Creator's law, and: "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).
Sin still exists, as does the wages of sin, death; therefore how can the Law that defines sin no longer be in force or existence?
That's like saying a seedless orange grows an apple tree, or that driving accidents happen when pedestrians collide with one another.
It makes no sense, is sheer nonsense, and the antithesis of the pure truth, to claim that death somehow still exists without sin, or that sin exists without the Law that defines it.
How arrogantly foolish and utterly false!
The Only Name Of Salvation Is In The Law!
Although so many today cannot seem to fathom this simple fact and pure truth, Paul and Nehemiah certainly knew and taught better, and will arise in the resurrection to condemn those today who think otherwise or believe to the contrary that, despite the obvious reality of death still today, there is no longer any Commandment or Law still in force that defines the sin which results in that penalty.
Worse than foolish, such a fraudulent notion and religious misbelief is a crime against your very nature as a living, reasoning being made in the Creator's image, to fulfill His ultimate purpose for your existence of salvation, which is the writing of that perfect Law of liberty and life upon the tablets of your stony heart, where it will never again be forgotten, abandoned, ignored as "unimportant," "insignificant" or "non-existent," or violated under the deluded belief that anyone else could obey it forever on your behalf, to pay the penalty for your sins with the intention of your violating and doing violence to that Law forever thereafter.
Eben ("Peter") and Paul, who observed the Feasts of Pentecost, Passover/Unleavened Bread, Tabernacles, and the regular sabbaths, knew and taught better than this -- as the Old Testament prophets all did -- that salvation can only be gained through those obedient to His Commandments, Statutes and Judgments, who call upon the name of Creator Yahveh, as revealed in the Messiah's true name, Yahvsave (meaning: Yahveh the Savior; see: Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13; "Joel" 2:32; Psalm 132:11-12)!
The Creator/Savior's death and resurrection freely pays the penalty for all of your past sins, because He was the One whose voice brought forth the dry land and formed and shaped the first man Adam out of the dust of the earth, and the first woman Eve from one of Adam's ribs.
Yahveh humbled and lowered Himself to come in the form of a man, to fulfill the promise made to Da'avid to sit upon his throne forever, by revealing the Father Yahveh and accomplishing His merciful salvation toward all who will acknowledge, heed and obey Him forever thereafter, by learning how to perfectly obey His Commandments and Law!
This is what Nehemiah, Paul and Eben, along with all the other Apostles, Prophets and Teachers of old knew, and this is precisely what any true servant of Creator Yahveh today teaches; The PURE TRUTH that has been restored for your benefit today, if you will but heed and answer that great Calling to repentance* right now!
* Turning back to obey that Law, and He who made it to bless all those who will obey Him, and curse all those adversaries -- those who are adverse to life itself -- who wickedly, utterly and rebelliously refuse to hear, heed or obey their Creator/Savior!
